Chocolate For Your Skin?

Sure, Why Not?!!

We are all learning that chocolate is a lot better for us than previously believed; it is even considered healthy.

Chocolate treatment

What actually makes chocolate so healthy? Largely responsible for the healthy aspects of chocolate, the darker the better, are antioxidants.

Antioxidants

Chocolate is full of antioxidants, over 13,000 in one serving. Chocolate has twice the amount of antioxidants of red wine and 7 times the amount of a cup of green tea. Why do we need or want antioxidants, you may ask. Free radicals! They are a big problem in our daily lives and we are exposed more and more everyday.

Free Radicals

Free radicals are molecules with an unpaired electron or electon. Molecules need a certain number of electrons to be complete. Think beginning chemistry when we learned that molecules needed to be neutrally chareged, meaning they have to have a balance between their positive and negative charges. When a molecule loses an electron, it must look for another. This process of molecules stealing electrons from one another is called the free radical cascade and is considered to be a leading cause in many diseases. Consider a skin cell who loses an electron; it must now completed itself. Some cell are successful in stealing another electon to complete themselves, others are left to die or duplicate in an unhealthy state creating other unhealthy cells.

Normally the body is exposed to about 10,00 free radicals a day. With our world changing as it is we are being exposed well past what our body is able to handle naturally. Additional free radicals come from: pollution, uv light, smoking, stress, diet, etc. We must give our body antioxidant to help with the fight.

An antioxidant is able to help by donating the electron the molecule is searching for saving our healthy cells. Antioxidants are prevalent in bright colored fruits and vegetables, green tea and red wine, but chocolate has the most antioxidants to offer per serving and is thought by many to be the best tasting way to fight free radicals.

No Reason Not To Indulge

A typical serving of chocolate has about 10 to 15 grams of fat per serving, but go ahead and indulge in a serving. Most people are satisfied with one serving of dark chocolate. The best part is that chocolate pairs well with many other high in antioxidant food and drink as well.

If you are looking for a way to indulge in more of chocolate’s healing properties, try Sweet Beauty Organic Chocolate Spa Treatments.

Beauty And Chocolate

Chocoholics Unite!

A very smart but apparently unknown person once said, “Forget love. I’d rather fall in chocolate.” I say “Ditto!’ Is anything more decadent? Who among us didn’t fight off a sibling for a chance to lick the bowl? I thought not, so I started a chocolate spa product company. When jars of chocolate sugar scrub started flying off the shelves and I didn’t have time to answer all the questions my customers were asking about the benefits of chocolate as a beauty aid, I decided to launch this blog.
